Mace’s Casual Fascism in Suggesting Deportation of U.S. Citizen
This past week, Nancy Mace, in another publicity stunt, decided to just casually throw out the idea that the new Democratic candidate for New York mayor, Zohran Mamdani, should be denaturalized and deported likely because she does not like his economic views or stance on Israel. She also somehow suggested that his election proves we haven’t learned our lesson from 9/11.
It should be just some laughable absurdity heard on talk radio, but it is instead being put out by our own congresswoman, someone who tries at times to put herself out as a moderate. However, this makes Joseph McCarthy look pretty tame in comparison. It is just straight xenophobia and fascism.
Unfortunately, Mace knows that this type of rhetoric is now mainstream, just casually suggesting the stripping of someone’s citizenship and their deportation because they are your political enemy is now not that extreme in the Republican biosphere. Where this would end if people like Mace got their way would be the locking up of political rivals and the end of democracy.
The level of hypocrisy is also beyond belief. She likes the idea of Mamdani being stripped of his citizenship and deported because he holds socialist economic views and critiques the apartheid and genocide of the Israeli state. She, however. openly supports and praises a president who tried to have a coup when he didn’t win the election. We must ensure that Mace is never elected again at either the national or state level. She is an attention seeker, but most of her attention lately is focused on normalizing authoritarianism.
